Deepika Padukone said that Sanjay Leela Bhansali wanted to make Bajirao Mastani since a very long time. "The physically challenging scenes in Bajirao Mastani were extremely difficult. Also, there was a lot of weight which was weighing me down. My shoulders hurt terribly," Deepika told NDTV.

There was a lot of chaos going on at that time; there were explosions, horses, elephants and fire on the sets." Ranveer had suffered a shoulder injury while performing his own stunts for the movie.
